Stoel Rives Recognizes Pro Bono Leaders for 2025 With Andrew Guy Award

Stoel Rives has honored 15 attorneys with its 2026 Andrew Guy Pro Bono Award for providing extraordinary service during the prior year. The firm also named 50 attorneys who performed 50 or more hours of pro bono service to its “Pro Bono Honor Roll.”

Stoel Rives’ attorneys and paralegals offered their time and energy in 2025 to a variety of worthy causes, including helping to work through the backlog of applications from Alaskans seeking SNAP benefits; obtaining a pardon on behalf of a wrongly convicted man who came to the United States as a teenage refugee from the civil war in El Salvador; securing a long‑term protective order and financial relief on behalf of a domestic violence survivor; and guiding a client who had fled persecution in Uganda through the United States’ complex immigrant system.

The award’s namesake, Andrew Guy, is a retired Stoel Rives partner who was a driving force in the founding and growth of the firm’s pro bono program, both by volunteering his legal services and serving as the first chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.

Stoel Rives encourages each of its attorneys to complete at least 50 hours of pro bono service annually, prioritizing pro bono service to persons of limited means or to nonprofit organizations designed primarily to address the needs of persons of limited means. The firm encourages its lawyers to follow their own interests, values, and priorities in deciding which types of pro bono services to render and persons or groups to assist on a pro bono basis.
