About Matt

Matt Tellam represents employers in a variety of employment-related matters, including agency actions, disputes and litigation, workplace investigations, labor negotiations and arbitrations, and advice and counsel. He has considerable experience assisting employers with employee separations, including reductions in force.

Before joining Stoel Rives, Matt was an associate with Stahancyk, Kent & Hook PC (2019–2022), where he guided clients through family law matters including divorces, modifications, family abuse prevention act matters, and relocation proceedings. In addition to representing clients in contested court hearings, Matt has also represented clients in alternative dispute resolution settings, including mediation and arbitration. During his summers in law school, he was a legal assistant with Stephen A. Houze Law Firm (2017–2018).

  • Advise employers at all stages of the employee separation process, including situations involving reductions in force.
  • Advise employers during labor organizing activity and election petitions.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and advise on Title IX matters.
  • Advise employers on agency matters, litigation, labor grievances, and arbitrations.
  • Advise employers on compliance with Title VII and the ADA, including accommodations in the workplace.
  • Successfully defended health care employer in labor arbitration involving the grievance of employee discipline.
