Overview

Jacob Goldberg is a litigator based in the Portland office. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, including securities litigation, contract disputes, complex business litigation, competition matters, trade secret misappropriation, class action litigation, internal business disputes, real property disputes, and data breach litigation. Jacob also advises clients on privacy-related matters, especially with regard to regulations governing biometric information.

Before joining Stoel Rives, Jacob served as a law clerk for the Honorable Susan P. Graber of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

  • Representation of electric distribution cooperative in dispute with generation and transmission cooperatives regarding energy rates and terms of wholesale power contracts.
  • Assisted in representation of complex metals manufacturer in international arbitration, seeking indemnification for breaches of representations and warranties in securities purchase agreement.
  • Assisted in representation of national restaurant company in New York state court action alleging breach of contract, and breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing.

  • Representation of large event management software company in federal court proceeding alleging trade secret misappropriation, copywrite infringement, and breach of contract.
  • Representation of property owners and developers in pre-litigation disputes involving nuisance allegations.
  • Representation of surrogacy agency in federal court action alleging violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, trade secret misappropriation, intentional interference with business relations, and defamation.

  • Obtained dismissal of action against non-profit housing organization and faith organization attempting to construct and operate the first homeless shelter in Ontario, Oregon. Drafted and argued successful opposition to motion for a preliminary injunction.
  • Representation of tenant in dispute alleging unlawful and discriminatory towing of her vehicle by landlord. Obtained settlement equivalent to full value of vehicle.
