About Jacob

Jacob Goldberg is an associate attorney in Stoel Rives’ Litigation group. His practice focuses on commercial litigation and appeals, and he has worked on a range of matters including contract disputes, trade secret misappropriation, class action litigation, internal business disputes, and data breach litigation. Before joining Stoel Rives, Jacob practiced at smaller firms in Portland, Oregon, and Los Angeles, California, where he represented plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts, in arbitration, and on appeal. He has also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Susan P. Graber of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (2015–2016).

  • Assisting in representation of Wyoming-based mining operator and its parent company in state court action alleging negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and loss of consortium.
  • Assisting in representation of surrogacy agency in federal court action alleging violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, trade secret misappropriation, intentional interference with business relations, and defamation.
  • Obtained dismissal of action against non-profit housing organization and faith organization attempting to construct and operate the City of Ontario, Oregon’s first homeless shelter. Drafted and argued successful opposition to motion for a preliminary injunction.
  • Represented tenant in dispute alleging unlawful and discriminatory towing of her vehicle by landlord. Obtained settlement equivalent to full value of vehicle.
  • Drafted merits brief regarding unresolved statutory interpretation matter before the Oregon Supreme Court concerning the scope of Oregon’s anti-discrimination retaliation provision.
  • Drafted Ninth Circuit amicus brief concerning Fourth and Fifth Amendment constitutional challenges to state agricultural regulation.
