Cory Carone Named 2025 Idaho Business Review Leaders in Law ‘Up & Coming’ Lawyer

BOISE, Idaho—Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that the Idaho Business Review (IBR) selected litigator Cory M. Carone as an honoree in its 2025 Leaders in Law program in the “Up & Coming” category. The 23 Leaders in Law awardees hail from all over Idaho and were chosen for their demonstrated outstanding performance in leadership, mentorship, community service, and other areas. Carone represents some of Idaho’s biggest companies in resolving complex, high-stakes disputes. He also worked on several high-profile civil rights cases in Idaho, including two lawsuits related to the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students.

Dedicated to public interest law, Carone has a robust pro bono practice and was a key member of the pro bono team that prevailed on behalf of drag performer Eric Posey in his defamation lawsuit against a social media blogger who engaged in a misinformation campaign targeting Mr. Posey as part of a broader effort to advance legislation that would ban drag shows in Idaho. The trial, which became closely watched nationally, concluded with a unanimous jury finding the blogger liable for defamation and awarding Mr. Posey over $1.17 million in damages.

Carone also holds leadership roles in the community with organizations contributing to Boise’s economic vitality and serving the needs of diverse local communities across Idaho. Since 2021, he has been a member of Boise Young Professionals, a Boise Metro Chamber program providing professional development and career resources for young professionals in the Boise Metro area. Boise Metro Chamber accepted him to the 2025–2026 class of its Leadership Boise program for young business and civic leaders in the Treasure Valley. Carone has also served on the Idaho Diaper Bank’s Board of Directors since 2023.
