Overview
Janelle Elysee is an intellectual property attorney with experience representing clients in complex litigation and counseling matters involving cutting‑edge technologies. Her practice focuses on patent litigation and related IP disputes in federal courts as well as administrative proceedings before the PTAB and TTAB. She has worked on high‑stakes matters from early case strategy through trial preparation.
Janelle regularly collaborates directly with in‑house counsel, experts, and cross‑functional legal teams to develop litigation strategy, manage discovery, and prepare witnesses. Her work spans a range of technologies and industries, including medical devices, software, communications systems, and consumer products.
In addition to litigation, Janelle advises clients on broader intellectual property and commercial issues, including trademark, copyright, trade secret, and false advertising matters. She also provides ongoing IP counseling to technology companies, helping them navigate compliance, risk management, and product development in evolving regulatory and legal landscapes.
Before joining Stoel Rives, Janelle was a litigation associate with two international law firms. Immediately after law school she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Embry J. Kidd at the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

- Defended clothing retailer against allegations of infringement covering user interfaces and geographic information systems.
- Defended hard drive manufacturer against allegations of infringement on its magnetic recording layer technology.
- Defended telecommunications company against allegations of infringement on patents covering 4G and 5G technologies.
- Defended generic drug manufacturer in ANDA litigation.
- Defended solar photovoltaic cell manufacturer against infringement on its conductive solar paste formulation.
Trade Secret Litigation
- Defended medical device company against allegations of misappropriation of software embedded in the medical device.
- Defended criminal defendant against allegations of misappropriation of enterprise software, leading to dismissal of all counts.
Trademark Litigation
- Represented social media platform in protecting its registered trademarks from misappropriation by a store front. Matter resolved with a rebranding by the store front.
- Represented a client in a trademark infringement action against a competitor that misappropriated the client’s trademarks by embedding the marks in meta tags, alt text, and hidden website content to improperly redirect online traffic.
General Litigation
- Represented online retailer against breach of contract and warranty claims raised by customer. Case was dismissed on oral argument, which was affirmed by the appellate court.
