Stoel Rives Receives Distinguished Service Citation from Oregon FFA for Ongoing Service to FFA and Agricultural Education

Press Release

PORTLAND, Ore.—Stoel Rives, an AmLaw 200 law firm, is pleased to announce that in recognition of Stoel Rives’ ongoing support of the Oregon FFA Association, the firm received a Distinguished Service Citation from the FFA at its 2024 State Convention. The citation is reserved for organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the FFA (formerly Future Farmers of America) and agricultural education and honors the firm’s continued sponsorship of the Oregon chapter for nearly 15 years.

“We are continuously inspired by the talents, skills, and achievements of the middle school and high school students who are involved in FFA, and we admire the impact they have made and will continue to make on their communities,” said Kirk Maag, co-leader of the firm’s Agribusiness team. “It is a real honor to be able to support the incredible work and mission of Oregon FFA. We are proud to have a part in helping to train the next generation of employees, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the agriculture industry. The investments we make in today’s youth will yield invaluable results for the industry today and into the future.”

Stoel Rives is a Two Star Sponsor of the Oregon FFA Association and has long supported the organization’s mission. Stoel has deep connections to the FFA; several of the firm’s Agribusiness lawyers have been involved in the organization and served in various levels of leadership, including former Oregon FFA State Officers Kirk Maag, Wade Foster, and Joe Matteo. Maag is a former board chair of the Oregon FFA Foundation and the current board chair of the Oregon FFA Joint Board.

“Our partnerships with Stoel Rives and other businesses with deep roots in agriculture ensure that Oregon FFA can provide our [16,000+] members from across Oregon with opportunities for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education,” said Phil Ward, CEO of Oregon FFA. “We are grateful to Stoel Rives for continuing to contribute time and financial resources to our organization. These contributions help Oregon FFA to develop the next generation of leaders in communities throughout Oregon and beyond.”

In addition to this recent recognition for the firm, Maag was recognized by both the National FFA Organization and Oregon FFA Association in 2022 with an Honorary American FFA Degree and an Honorary State FFA Degree. He has held several FFA leadership positions over the years and has helped build financial support for Oregon FFA through the state.
