Press Release

PORTLAND, Ore. – Stoel Rives, an AmLaw 200 law firm, today announced the appointment of Meaghan Nelson to serve as co-leader of the firm’s Technology Industry Group alongside Steve Lovett. Nelson, a corporate and securities partner based in the firm’s Boise office, also maintains an active practice in Sacramento. She brings more than 15 years of legal and business experience from AmLaw 50 firms and as in-house general counsel for prominent companies in the technology sector.

“I’m honored to be named co-leader of this important group, and look forward to working with Steve as we help our clients navigate the rapidly-changing tech environment,” said Nelson. “The pace of innovation presents both opportunities and challenges for companies. Our talented team is prepared to provide best-in-class counsel, and I’m thrilled to be at the forefront with this group.”

Stoel Rives’ Technology Industry Group advises clients who own, manufacture, license, acquire, and sell tech innovations globally. The group supports clients from formation and financing through protecting intellectual property, managing a workforce, marketing products, and effecting strategic transactions that grow revenue and expand markets.

“We are lucky to have Meaghan on our team,” said Lovett. “In the months since she joined our firm last October, we have all been impressed by her legal ability and her industry knowledge. I look forward to the positive impact she will bring to the group in this role.”

As a corporate partner, Nelson represents companies of all stages of maturity, including formation, funding, expansion, and exit, with an emphasis on the technology industry. She advises public and private companies on general corporate law and governance matters as well as transactions, including venture financings, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings. She also counsels clients on public company disclosure, stock exchange listing compliance, and reporting to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

“The introduction of AI into so many aspects of mainstream business is certainly changing the landscape for many of our clients and we’re here to help them,” said Melissa Jones, Stoel Rives’ Firm Managing Partner. “We know Meaghan and Steve will be leading and growing the tech industry group to stay in front of the issues that impact our clients.”
