Stoel Rives Adds Partner Jennifer Spaith to Intellectual Property Practice in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. – Stoel Rives, an Am Law 200 law firm, today announced that Jennifer Spaith has joined its Intellectual Property practice group in Seattle as a partner. Spaith’s practice focuses on serving innovative companies and individuals pursuing robust IP strategies including complex patentable technology, as well as providing IP counsel in transactions in which intellectual property plays a significant role. She joins the firm from Dorsey & Whitney where she was a partner.

“Jennifer’s technical background in electrical engineering and computer science makes her a great addition to our IP practice,” said Jason B. McCammon, Chair of Stoel’s Technology and Intellectual Property Practice (TIP). “She has a client-first approach and her practice is well-aligned with our strategies for growing TIP and enhancing its presence in the Pacific Northwest. She is an excellent fit for us across the board.”

Spaith represents companies at every scale developing cutting-edge technologies, including virtualized software systems, electronics, wireless communication systems, artificial intelligence and neural networks, artificial and virtual reality systems, LiDAR sensing systems, and clean or renewable energy technologies, including purification technologies and waste-to-energy systems. She also conducts patent due diligence and post-transaction title transfer in diverse fields from optical systems to wireless communications, medical devices and treatments; prepares licenses and other agreements supporting IP transfers; and counsels clients on patent strategies, including expedited examination techniques, provisional applications, development of a global portfolio footprint, and preparation for patent assertion and defense.

Spaith graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law. Prior to law school, she earned graduate and undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Stoel Rives’ TIP practice group registers, transfers and protects intellectual property rights and assets nationally and globally. The group’s experience includes patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. They provide advice and counsel in monetizing IP assets, fighting infringement, and defending against claims that threaten clients’ creations and investments.

The firm’s TIP group comprises business attorneys who focus on counseling companies and structuring transactions involving technology and intangible assets, as well as litigators with direct experience in IP disputes who advise clients on liability and risk allocation matters and represent them in litigation and dispute proceedings.
