Pro Bono Counsel Helps Food Front Co-op Secure Sale and Avoid Foreclosure
Stoel Rives provided pro bono representation to Food Front Cooperative Grocery in the sale of its former Slabtown store at 2375 N.W. Thurman Street in Portland, Oregon, to local developer Mark New. The sale proceeds cover the co-op’s outstanding loan balance and operating expenses, and the purchase and sale agreement obligates the buyer to make a $25,000 donation to local nonprofit Friendly House.
By facilitating the sale, Stoel Rives attorneys Scott Rosenthal and Isaiah Hardy helped the co-op prevent foreclosure and set the stage for the property’s community-driven redevelopment.
