ExperienceJohn Laney is an associate in the Corporate practice group and has experience with Stimulus Act funding for renewable energy projects. John represents clients in corporate governance matters; mergers and acquisitions; and corporate, securities and financing transactions, with an emphasis on the development, structuring, financing and acquisition of renewable energy projects. Prior to law school John was a senior account executive with HSBC, Consumer Lending.
John was an extern for the Honorable John C. Coughenour, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington (2007); a law clerk at Forsberg & Umlauf, P.S. (2007); and a legal extern at the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (Summer 2006).

ExperienceJohn Laney is an associate in the Corporate practice group and provides assistance to health care clients. He has advised health care entities on a variety of legal issues including contracting, policy and procedure development, information privacy and security compliance, federal anti-kickback safe harbors and Stark law requirements. John has also worked closely with in-house counsel for a regional hospital system.
Prior to joining Stoel Rives, John was a licensed adult family home provider. During this time, John was licensed as a registered nursing assistant and obtained additional certifications to provide care for those suffering from dementia and other mental illnesses. Further, while an extern at the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, John worked in the Elder Abuse Division and participated in cases involving alleged criminal mistreatment at health care facilities.
