Michael E. Mangelson


Mike Mangelson is an experienced business intellectual property (IP) attorney. Mike assists clients in protecting and enforcing their business IP, including trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, and in commercializing their IP through licensing and other IP transactions. Mike also consults clients on branding, counterfeiting and marketing law and long-term IP strategies that help secure and protect market positioning and competitive advantages in the U.S. and abroad.

Mike serves as Chair of the firm's China group and is the founder and former Chair of the firm's Salt Lake City Technology & Intellectual Property group. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Brigham Young University law school. Mike has frequently been recognized for excellence in his practice area, being selected by Best Lawyers in America®, a well-known attorney ratings service, as the region's Trademark Law Lawyer of the Year 2012 and recognized as a top IP attorney in Best Lawyers (2007-2013) and Chambers USA: Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business (2007-2013).

Prior to joining Stoel Rives, Mike studied Chinese and practiced business IP law, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions with an international law firm in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Los Angeles. Mike is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
