ExperienceAaron Barker provides patent-related services for clients ranging from emerging start-ups to large public companies. He focuses his practice on U.S. and foreign patent strategy, preparation, and prosecution in a wide variety of technology areas. In addition to patent procurement and portfolio management, Aaron counsels clients in the areas of patentability, patent validity, patent infringement, IP due diligence, IP licensing, and pre-litigation counseling.
Prior to joining Stoel Rives, Aaron was an associate at Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear (2003-2006), Irvine, California; a patent agent and student associate at TraskBritt (2001-2003), Salt Lake City, Utah; and an electrical engineer for a division of Lockheed Martin that became L-3 Communications, (1996-2000), Salt Lake City, Utah.
Representative WorkAreas of patent counseling include laser processing systems, communication systems, medical devices, software, semiconductor devices, alternative energy systems, power line fault detection systems, consumer electronic devices, database management systems, Internet commerce, and interactive television broadcast systems.
