Overview

Sophie Shaddy-Farnsworth is an associate in Stoel Rives Labor & Employment group, where she focuses on employment-related litigation. Sophie enjoys working closely with clients to resolve complex legal challenges.

Before joining Stoel Rives, Sophie was a judicial law clerk to Judge Stacie Beckerman of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon (2020–2021), for whom she drafted legal opinions for cases involving state and federal constitutional claims, employment discrimination claims, disability discrimination claims, breach of contract claims, prisoner civil rights claims, social security and disability benefits appeals, and immigration appeals. While attending law school, Sophie was a law clerk for the Metropolitan Public Defender in Portland, Oregon (2019–2020), where she tried several misdemeanor criminal cases and argued motions and contested hearings. Sophie also served as a law clerk for Immigrant Defense Oregon (2018–2019) and the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the District of Oregon (2018). 

In 2019, she was a summer associate with Stoel Rives, where she gained experience in matters related to wage and hour disputes, employment discrimination, breach of contract matters, and a variety of other employment-related disputes.
