Overview

Rachel Hay practices in Stoel Rives’ Litigation group. She has litigated a range of complex civil commercial matters, including trade secret, employment, regulatory, and constitutional cases. Rachel recently assisted with trial in a multimillion-dollar breach of contract action, which ended in a bench verdict.

Before joining Stoel Rives, Rachel was an associate with a boutique litigation law firm. Prior to entering private practice, she was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Thomas O. Rice of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington and to the Honorable Laurel H. Siddoway of the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division III. While attending law school, she was a judicial extern to the Honorable Robert S. Lasnik of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

  • Assisted in defending a large buyer and seller of distressed assets in a multimillion-dollar breach of contract action, resulting in a bench verdict.
  • Aided in obtaining a preliminary injunction on behalf of the City of Seattle in an action challenging unconstitutional funding conditions imposed by the federal government.
  • Negotiated a successful settlement on behalf of a pro bono client seeking restitution under the Washington Residential Landlord-Tenant Act.
