Michael Robinson is an associate in Stoel Rives’ Energy Development group. Michael represents lenders, investors, and developers in the financing and construction of energy and infrastructure projects across the United States. His experience spans a broad range of assets, including renewable energy and storage, data center, recycling, and carbon capture and sequestration projects.

Prior to joining Stoel Rives, Michael was a project finance associate with an international law firm.

  • Represented lenders in the $1.2 billion construction-to-term loan financing to fund Copia Power’s construction of the Harquahala Sun 1 & 2 solar plus storage projects in Arizona.
  • Represented lenders with respect to (i) a construction loan and letter of credit facility to fund the development of a solar project in Indiana, (ii) a bridge loan, construction loan, and credit support to fund the development of solar projects in Missouri, and (iii) the provision of an equipment supply loan to an independent power producer.
  • Represented investors in connection with tax equity investments in (i) a portfolio of battery energy storage system projects in Texas, (ii) a multistate portfolio of wind projects, (iii) a solar plus storage project in Arizona, and (iv) a carbon capture and sequestration project.
  • Represented an institutional client in the formation of a tax credit fund and subsequent tax equity investment in a portfolio of solar projects.
  • Represented an investor in its investment in a data center developer’s high-performance computing business.
  • Represented an institutional client in connection with a facilitation agreement to secure purchasers of Section 45 renewable energy production tax credits for a solar project.
  • Represented an institutional client in its purchase of Section 45X advanced manufacturing production tax credits from an EV battery manufacturer in addition to a facilitation agreement to secure additional purchasers.
  • Represented a project developer with respect to its construction, financing, and joint venture arrangements for a recycling facility in California.
