About Kennon

Kennon Scott represents clients in a broad range of civil, criminal, and regulatory matters. Her litigation practice focuses on complex commercial business and contract disputes, putative and derivative class actions, environmental and natural resources insurance coverage, and health and safety law. Kennon also leverages her litigation experience to help clients avoid and manage legal risk. She has extensive experience counseling clients on contract drafting and interpretation, conducting internal investigations, representing clients in government investigations and enforcement actions, advising on FCPA and anti-bribery issues, and assessing client compliance programs and internal control functions. Kennon represents and advises clients in many industries, including technology, manufacturing, food and beverage, automotive retail, and footwear and apparel.

Kennon is committed to community service. She is the co-chair of the firm’s Portland Recruiting Committee, a past member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and a committed mentor to junior and summer associates. She also sits on local boards and committees and represents clients in immigration and other pro bono matters.

Prior to joining Stoel Rives, Kennon was an associate at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in New York.

  • Obtained zero-liability arbitration award for commercial tenant in lease dispute.
  • Defended online service provider in a putative class action alleging discrimination, successfully positioning case for settlement.
  • Defended online service provider and property management company in a putative class action, successfully compelling case to individual arbitration.
  • Obtained summary judgment for automotive retailer in consumer fraud class action.
  • Represented financial services company in national class action alleging violations of Fair Credit Reporting Act relating to employment background checks.
  • Member of team that obtained arbitration award in favor of company against claims by former Chief Financial Officer seeking a multimillion-dollar damages award.
  • Represented large commercial manufacturer in two age discrimination cases, successfully positioning both cases for conclusion.
  • Represented multinational insurance company in Fourth Circuit appeal and all other stages of insurance coverage dispute.
  • Represented leading multinational pharmaceutical company in SEC and DOJ investigations of alleged FCPA violations.
  • Member of trial team in challenge to settlement of claims under bond insurance policies issued on mortgage-backed securities.
  • Successfully represented clients in several bankruptcy preference actions.

Counseling and Drafting Experience

  • Extensive experience advising apparel and footwear company on marketing and endorsement contracts.
  • Drafted and advised on anti-money laundering, anti-bribery, and other provisions in various commercial contracts.
  • Drafted ground lease for wind farm in eastern Oregon.

Criminal and Regulatory Experience

  • Represented leading multinational pharmaceutical company in SEC and DOJ investigations of alleged FCPA violations.
  • Investigated and advised client on potential FCPA violation by third-party partner in Latin America.
  • Represented manufacturers in several inspections and citations by Oregon OSHA.
