Gene Frassetto practiced in business law with an emphasis on complex real estate transactions. He worked on urban retail, industrial and commercial development transactions; rural farm, ranch, vineyard, windfarm and renewable-energy transactions; and the real estate aspects of corporate transactions.

Gene gained extensive experience in the acquisition, leasing, development, and sale of electric generation facilities (both renewable and conventional), including wind farms, solar projects, gas- and coal-fired power plants and biofuels facilities across the country. Gene represented many of the premier vineyard and winery operators in the Northwest in vineyard and winery operations, acquisitions, and leasing transactions; grape sales; alternating proprietorships; and other related transactions. He assisted clients in complex real estate due diligence analysis and title insurance matters, including corporate merger and acquisition transactions.

Prior to joining Stoel Rives, Gene was a law clerk for Chief Justice Edwin J. Peterson of the Oregon Supreme Court (1984–1986); and a law clerk at Heltzel, Byers, Upjohn & Shaw in Salem, Oregon (1982–1984).

  • Represented major wind-power developer in sale of a large wind-energy project in Washington to a major Pacific Northwest investor-owned utility.
  • Represented major wind developer in sale of a large wind-energy project in Washington to a California investor-owned utility.
  • Represented major wind developer in lease and title work on numerous wind-farm projects in the West, Southwest, and Midwest.
  • Represented biofuels producer in acquisition of production sites in the Midwest.
  • Represented clients on solar power site acquisition and leasing.
  • Represented local public utility in right-of-way and property acquisitions, operations and dispositions.
  • Represented major Northwest investor-owned utility on real estate matters generally, including acquisitions of power plants in Colorado and Arizona, right-of-way matters, and property acquisitions and dispositions.

  • Represented premier Northwest vineyard developers and wineries in vineyard and winery acquisitions, leasing, development, operations, and dispositions in the Northwest.

  • Represented Washington irrigation district in connection with leasing of district farmlands for vineyard use.
  • Represented clients in the acquisition and operation of over 50,000 acres of ranchland.

  • Represented various Fortune 500 companies in acquisition and disposition of commercial and industrial properties across the country.
  • Represented local Fortune 500 manufacturing company and affiliates in numerous industrial and office acquisitions, leasing and corporate acquisitions, and disposition matters across the country.
  • Represented large, privately owned quicklime/hydrated lime producer in leasing production sites and other real property matters.
  • Represented major Portland sportswear company in acquisition of headquarters site, warehouse/distribution sites, flagship store and outlet mall sites.
  • Represented national affordable housing developers in numerous low-income tax-credit housing developments across the country.
  • Represented aluminum company in sale of former bauxite off-loading, storage and transport facility on the Willamette River and ground leasing or sale of surplus lands.
  • Represented local steel company in acquisition and financing of large, complex plant site in Colorado.
  • Represented buyer in acquisition and rehabilitation of historic downtown Portland hotel.
  • Represented Oregon hospitals in acquisition and disposition of medical office buildings and other real estate matters.
  • Represented developer in acquisition and development of complex residential mixed-use site with private, regional (METRO), local (PDC) and federal funding.
