About Ronak

Ronak Chokhani is an associate in Stoel Rives’ Corporate group and focuses his practice on health care transactions. He provides guidance on a wide range of regulatory and corporate transactional matters to medical groups, managed care companies, and other health care entities. Ronak’s business acumen and passion for the health care industry coupled with his distinguished legal research and writing skills make him an asset for his clients. He constantly strives to increase the breadth and depth of his legal knowledge to ensure his clients receive sound legal guidance.

Before joining Stoel Rives, Ronak was a legal intern in the Office of the General Counsel at Lone Star College System (2018); a summer associate at Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz P.C (2018); a legal intern in the Office of the General Counsel at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (2017); and a summer associate at Rose Law Firm (2017).

Health Care Regulatory Experience

  • Advised clients on disclosure of protected health information under HIPAA and Oregon privacy laws.  
  • Advised clients on federal Anti-Kickback Statute matters and analyzed whether relevant safe-harbor provisions were applicable.
  • Prepared residential handbook for an assisted-living facility.
  • Researched corporate practice of medicine rules for 14 states and assessed whether a health care client is compliant with relevant restrictions and prohibitions.
  • Advised client on duty to report a fraud and neglect investigation to a professional licensing board under Oregon laws.
  • Assessed whether client’s Business Associate Agreements comply with HIPAA and HITECH.

Health Care Transactional Experience

  • Advised clients on Anti-Kickback and Stark law implications of proposed joint venture and electronic health record arrangement.
  • Analyzed Stock Repurchase Agreement for breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims for a minority shareholder of a private practice.
  • Prepared an Operating Agreement and a Unanimous Written Consent for a dermatology clinic
  • Prepared provider agreement for a Coordinated Care Organization.
  • Assisted with buyer side due diligence for acquisition of a behavioral healthcare services provider.

  • Prepared training materials for employees of a publicly traded technology company regarding SEC’s insider trading regulations.
  • Prepared bylaws and organizational consent for a nonprofit organization.
