About Lea

Lea Benitah-Bouchard is a senior associate in Stoel Rives’ Project Finance practice and part of the firm’s renewable energy team. Lea has experience representing investors, developers, and financial institutions in complex energy and infrastructure transactions in the U.S. and Canada, with a particular focus on the solar and wind industry. She regularly advises clients on tax equity partnerships, debt financings, joint ventures, purchase agreements, and project development matters. Lea is also a member of the Seattle office’s Coaching & Mentoring Committee and a board member of the French-American Chamber of Commerce, Pacific Northwest Chapter.

Before joining Stoel Rives, Lea was a corporate associate with Stikeman Elliott LLP, where she represented public and private companies, private equity sponsors, pension funds, and financial institutions in a broad range of financing, infrastructure, and PPP transactions in Canada and internationally. She has expertise relating to the regulation of derivatives, exchanges, and clearing houses. Lea also worked as an intern with Goldman Sachs in Paris and as an associate with Phillips Friedman Kotler LLP. While in law school, Lea worked as a law clerk for the Superior Court of Quebec.

  • Representation of a solar energy developer in tax equity and debt financing (construction loans, ITC bridge loans, and permanent loans) for a portfolio of four utility-scale solar projects representing approximately 400 MW.
  • Representation of 1st Source Bank in financings of utility-scale, behind-the-meter, and community solar project portfolios for various sponsors across multiple states involving tax equity financing with investor syndication and construction and term debt.
  • Representation of a renewable energy developer in the formation of joint ventures to develop, construct, and sell approximately 600 MW in wind generation facilities to a Midwest utility.
  • Representation of a U.S. sponsor in the acquisition from a private equity firm of two portfolios of distributed solar assets for an aggregate purchase price of $450 million.
  • Representation of a sponsor in connection with debt and tax equity financing for a geothermal facility.
  • Representation of a renewable energy developer in connection with tax equity financing for a standalone storage project located in the U.S.
  • Representation of a privately owned renewable energy company in connection with operations & maintenance agreements for a solar portfolio of approximately 1 GW.
