About Amy

Amy Edwards is a trial lawyer providing strategic and practical advice to clients in complex civil and business disputes. Amy has tried cases before courts, juries and private arbitrators and has represented clients as plaintiffs or defendants in state and federal court, on appeal and in arbitration and mediation. She has a particular focus on health care-related disputes, representing coordinated care organizations, providers and insurers in contract disputes, fraud and abuse, and member/patient related disputes. Amy has also has experience representing businesses, tax-exempt organizations, fiduciaries and individuals in real estate, trust and estate, and consumer finance related litigation.

Amy was formerly a law clerk for The Honorable Bobbe J. Bridge, Washington Supreme Court (2001–2002); a participant in the Federal Appellate Advocacy Program, University of Washington School of Law (2001); a summer associate at Stoel Rives (2000); a legal intern in the Office of Washington Governor Gary Locke (1999); and a fund-raiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (1995–1998).

Complex Litigation

  • Lead trial lawyer in successful federal jury trial involving claims for fraud and violations of the Oregon Unlawful Trade Practices Act in which plaintiff sought over $5 million in economic, non-economic, and punitive damages related to the servicing of her loan. Jury returned a complete defense verdict.
  • Member of trial team that successfully defended a private company in a seven day arbitration in which the opposing party claimed $20 million in damages as a result of its purchase of the company's subsidiary.
  • Second chaired two-week jury trial involving the complex intersection between federal antitrust law and state contract law.
  • Obtained successful settlement of litigation involving a proposed merger of two mental health providers, which included state contracting and regulatory issues.
  • Representation of provider of health care services in connection with litigation challenging its award of a contract with state Medicaid agency to provide care coordination services for Medicaid fee-for-service members.
  • Representation of residential mental health and drug and alcohol adolescent treatment facility in multiple licensing disputes with Oregon regulatory agencies.
  • Representation of clients in appeals of adverse findings related to state required background checks for health care related positions.
  • Representation of coordinated care organization in complex subpoena requests involving protected health care records, including records of minor children in custody disputes, drug and alcohol records, and requests for deposition and trial testimony.
