Windpower Engineering & Development Quotes Barbara Craig on Benefits Wind Developers May See from Proposed Revisions to ESA

In The News

Environmental partner Barbara Craig was quoted in Windpower Engineering & Development in an article titled “Changes to the Endangered Species Act could benefit wind developers,” published August 13, 2018. The article discusses how proposed revisions to the Endangered Species Act intended to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Act could prove beneficial to wind developers in completing their projects.

Proposed changes to the Act’s section 7, which outlines specific procedures for interagency cooperation and conservation of listed species, include adding an expedited consultation process for projects that have predictable and minimal adverse effects on listed species or critical habitat. According to Craig, “…these proposed regulations should assist wind developers to the extent that the proposed project requires federal permits or is developed on public lands and requires a Section 7 consultation.”
