The Oregonian: Q&A with Ed Reeves on Workplace Significance of Supreme Court's Decision to Review Gay Marriage Issue

In The News

Partner Ed Reeves was interviewed by George Rede of The Oregonian in an article titled “What's at stake for Oregon as Supreme Court takes on gay marriage: Q&A on the issues.” The article discusses possible outcomes of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to address the issue of whether same-sex couples have the constitutional right to marry or whether states can ban gay marriage.

Reeves considered what  is at stake for Oregon in the case, the legal issues presented, and the workplace implications. He suggested the Supreme Court is unlikely to return to the previous status quo, with 70 percent of the U.S. population now living in jurisdictions where federal court decisions have compelled states to allow same-sex marriage. “Instead, [the Court is] probably going to say it's time to bring the other 30 percent under the same constitutional analysis,” he said.
