Stoel Rives partner Victor Kisch was interviewed by the Portland Business Journal on June 3 in an article titled "Could Seattle's $15 Minimum Wage Soon Hit Portland." Kisch discussed the effect Seattle’s decision could have on Portland.
“Like it or not, Seattle is our sister city,” said Kisch. “When it makes changes of this magnitude, it puts pressure on Portland to do the same thing.” Kisch also discussed the potential pitfalls Portland could face if the minimum wage is increased in Portland, including negative effects on hiring caused by higher labor costs and above average prices, particularly in the retail and fast food industries.
