A significant civil liberties ruling achieved by Stoel Rives attorneys Skylee Robinson, Karin Jones and Maren Norton, along with attorneys from the ACLU of Washington Foundation and Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, received coverage in the Washington and blogger press this week.
Reporter Lornet Turnbull of The Seattle Times discussed the Ramirez-Rangel v. Kitsap County case in Tuesday's paper, noting how the decision was hailed by immigration attorneys and advocates as a civil-liberties victory. The ACLU also issued an extensive press release, describing the decision as a "great victory for civil liberties."
Blog network LXBN TV interviewed Karin Jones about the significance of the decision via Skype. "We're very pleased with this result," said Jones. "We are hopeful that [the ruling] will provide further clarity to local law enforcement agencies throughout the state."
