Litigation partner Wendy Olson was featured in a Law360 “Expert Analysis – Q&A” titled “Wendy Olson Talks Twin Falls, Tribes, Private Practice,” published October 29, 2018. (Subscription required.) In the article, Olson discusses her time as an attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, as U.S. Attorney for the District of Idaho, and in private practice with Stoel Rives.
Olson, who worked at the Office of the U.S. Attorney for more than 20 years, discussed the case she felt was the most significant one she worked while there, where she believes the current relationship between the U.S. and Idaho tribes stands, and the kinds of work she did while she was with the Civil Rights Division.
She also talked about why she decided to leave the U.S. Attorney’s Office and how her work there compares to her work for Stoel Rives, which she joined in 2017. In discussing the differences, she said that she now appears at times in both state court and in administrative hearings, much less formal settings than federal court, and answers to multiple clients instead of a single one, the United States. “Working with clients is both rewarding and challenging, and it’s definitely reinvigorating my sense of humility as a lawyer,” she said.
