Howard Bye-Torre Interview Featured in ABA The Equalizer

In The News

Employee Benefits attorney Howard Bye-Torre was interviewed for the American Bar Association’s The Equalizer. The newsletter is published twice yearly by the ABA’s Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) and features interviews, current events and politics, highlights of Annual and Midyear Meetings, and recent LGBTQ2 legal developments.

Bye-Torre is currently serving his third and final year as an ABA SOGI commissioner. In the interview, he explains how he became involved in LGBTQ2 advocacy, what led him to SOGI and to becoming a commissioner, what accomplishments as a commissioner are most important to him, what advice he would give future commissioners, and what aspects of his employee benefits practice he enjoys most.

On a lighter note, Bye-Torre spoke of his love of all things Disney. “I blame it on being born in 1955, the year Disneyland opened,” he said. “For the third month of my sabbatical last year, my sister and I rented a house in Orlando for the month to get Disney out of our systems. Our plan was to do it all, and as much as we wanted.”
