Stoel Rives partner Barbara Craig was recently profiled in the Oregon State Bar Bulletin. Craig, who focuses her practice on environment and natural resources law, found her calling at an early age. As a young child she would accompany her father to work at the University of Michigan and stroll among the elm trees. Since then her passion for forests has taken her from working for the U.S. Forest Service, to fighting forest fires as a member of Redmond's Hot Shot Crew, to assisting clients solve complex environmental legal matters.
While working for the Forest Service she attended Lewis & Clark Law School. "I started thinking that if I wanted to be a district ranger, I'd better get smart about the laws that impact forestry," said Craig. She changed her course of action when she saw how the law can be used to resolve environmental issues. Today she enjoys working with her clients and working through complex issues to make things better for them.
