Attorney Eric Martin was cited in the Argus newsletter in a report titled “Gas users betting on US production to defray risk.” The report discusses how end users are striking deals to participate in various aspects of gas production as a hedge to long-term market volatility in natural gas prices. The report concludes that these deals will benefit gas consumers by allowing them to gain access to US supplies during market downturns and participate in the US gas market during price spikes.

Stoel Rives recently helped negotiate an agreement on behalf of Northwest Natural to jointly develop gas reserves in Wyoming’s Jonah Field with Encana. Martin, who led the Stoel Rives deal team, said Northwest Natural views its investment in the field as a way of protecting its customers from excessive price volatility over the next decade.
