On November 15, 2021, President Joe Biden signed into law the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that authorizes federal funds for highways, highway safety programs, transit programs, and other purposes.

The bill includes $550 billion in new funding to rebuild roads and bridges, water infrastructure, resilience, internet, and more; implements new safety requirements for all modes of transportation; and directs the Department of Transportation (DOT) to establish a program to ensure the long-term solvency of the Highway Trust Fund.
