PBJ How Oregon Works: 3 ways to reduce the risk of selling online

Article

For “The Wild World of Sales” installment of Portland Business Journal’s 2019 How Oregon Works series, Stoel Rives’ intellectual property and data privacy & security attorney Fred Struve and Chief Information Security Officer Jon Washburn co-authored an article titled “3 ways to reduce the risk of selling online,” published October 11, 2019. In the article, the authors provide several recommendations for businesses to take to reduce their risks in doing business online.

The recommendations include:

  • Use two-factor authentication and encourage your customers to do so as well.
  • Create a privacy policy, and make sure your customers are also aware how you manage their information.
  • Take adequate steps to secure your online payment system.

We encourage you to subscribe to our Stoel Rives Global Privacy & Security Blog® at https://www.stoelprivacyblog.com/ to receive updates from Jon and our other blog authors on data privacy and security topics.
