Washington Paid Sick Leave and Paid Family Leave
The Washington Paid Sick Leave Act goes into effect January 1, 2018. The new law requires all employers, regardless of size, to provide non-exempt employees 1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours of work. In addition, contributions will be collected for Washington's new Paid Family Leave in January 2019. Employers must determine how to comply with these new mandates.
Stoel Rives partner Tim O’Connell has been deeply involved in the rule making process for the regulations implementing Paid Sick Leave, as well as the negotiations that led to the creation of the Paid Family Leave program. Please join Tim and Karin Jones to learn what every employer should know about the new paid safe and sick leave requirements. The briefing will include:
- Introduce employers to the new law and the implementing regulations from the Department of Labor & Industries
- Provide compliance strategies
- Provide a step-by-step plan for implementation
In addition, this briefing will also introduce employers to the Paid Family Leave (WPFL) program and provide an overview of things employers need to think about now as they begin to plan compliance with this law.
CLE credit is pending in Washington.
