Stoel Rives was pleased to assist with the passage of amendments to the Oregon Environmental Cleanup Assistance Act in 2013, which has clarified the obligations of insurers to pay environmental claims in Oregon and brings Oregon in line with what has been happening in Washington for years under a similar statutory scheme. Over the last year, a number of court decisions have made clear that Oregon means business in enforcing this statute.
