Stoel Rives Ramps Up Diversity Recruitment Efforts, Releases Video

PORTLAND, Ore.—Stoel Rives recently released an attorney recruitment video focused on one of the firm’s critical core values—diversity & inclusion—and its continued aim to expand its diverse legal team. The firm’s “Recruiting for the Future” video encourages law students and lateral attorneys to grow their career with the firm as Stoel continues to strengthen its presences as a leading U.S. corporate and litigation law firm.

Diversity remains an important core value for Stoel Rives and continues to be a key element of the firm’s strategic vision, a message emphasized in the recruitment video. “When you bring a range and variety of perspectives to any problem, it results in better outcomes. Diversity makes us better legal advisors, problem solvers, leaders, and members of our communities,” Stoel Rives’ Firm Managing Partner Melissa Jones said.

Stoel Rives ensures every new attorney hire receives one-on-one peer mentoring, provides the opportunity for team members to join diverse Affinity Groups, and allows for each attorney to receive up to 50 hours of billable credit annually for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) activities, as well as up to 50 hours of billable credit for pro bono work.

“We have a deep, firmwide commitment to enhancing diversity and fostering a culture of inclusion at Stoel Rives, and we want to ensure we focus on that message in all areas of firm growth,” Jones said. “Getting that message across in our recruitment efforts is certainly paramount to that endeavor.”

More than 50% of Stoel Rives lawyers are diverse and 62% of the firm’s top leadership positions are held by diverse lawyers. Among the firm’s accolades for its DE&I endeavors, Stoel Rives received the Women in Law Empowerment Forum’s (WILEF) 2022 Gold Standard Certification; and a 100 percent rating on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index, ranking as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”
