PORTLAND, Ore. — Stoel Rives LLP announced today that it has been named a “Tipping the Scales” law firm for 2021 by the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance — in recognition that of the most recent group of attorneys promoted to the firm’s partnership, greater than 50% are women. The firm’s 2021 partner class of nine lawyers included five women. The Alliance released its 2021 New Partner Report and honored the Tipping the Scales recipients at its annual conference on November 3, 2021.

Diversity & Flexibility Alliance’s New Partner Report, which it first released in 2012, is a yearly compilation and examination of publicly released data from the organization’s members and the largest and top-grossing U.S. law firms that examines the gender breakdown of attorneys promoted to partnership. The Alliance researched nearly 200 law firms for its 2021 report, of which 67 had 50% or more women in their new partner class.

Stoel Rives has long been recognized for its advancement of women lawyers to positions of leadership and ownership. In January 2020, Melissa Jones, litigation partner in the firm’s Sacramento office, became the second female Managing Partner in the firm’s history. Other key leadership roles in the firm are also currently held by women, including firm Executive Committee members, Practice Group Leaders, Office Managing Partners, Industry Group Leaders, Chiefs and Directors.
