SAN DIEGO Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that Adam C. Walters has joined the firm’s Energy Development group as an of counsel attorney in its San Diego office. Walters brings almost 20 years of commercial and transactional experience to the firm’s renewable energy practice.

Walters has provided legal counsel to clients in the renewable energy industry, with a focus on the solar, wind, energy storage and water sectors. He has broad U.S. and international transactional experience covering the full range of corporate transactions and project agreements.

“Energy storage is a critical component for the reliability of renewable energy as it takes a larger share of the nation’s power supply,” said Brian Nese, managing partner of Stoel Rives’ California offices. “Adam’s previous in-house roles at industry-leading energy storage and solar companies give him extensive knowledge of the energy storage industry and its impact on renewable power project development.”

“In returning to private practice, there is no better choice than Stoel Rives given its national reputation as a renewable energy powerhouse,” Walters said. “I look forward to serving Stoel Rives’ clients in their energy project development and technology procurement needs.”

Before joining Stoel Rives, Walters spent ten years in-house, where he held senior legal positions in publicly traded battery storage and solar industry giants Tesla, SolarCity and First Solar. Most recently, he served as Deputy General Counsel of renewable water company SOURCE Global (formerly Zero Mass Water). Earlier in his career he worked at several U.S. and international law firms, including the Seattle office of Stoel Rives between 2008 and 2010.

Walters obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. He also received a B.S. from the University of Colorado Boulder and graduate degrees from the University of Texas and the College of Law (AU). He is admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales Australia, licensed to practice in Washington and Colorado, and is pending admission in California.
