SALT LAKE CITY, Utah Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that bankruptcy attorney Ellen E. Ostrow has been named to the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 40 Under 40 program, which recognizes insolvency professionals who are committed to the highest standards of achievement at work and in their communities.

“This is a well-deserved honor for Ellen,” said Mark Hindley, partner in Stoel Rives’ Salt Lake City office. “She is an incredible asset to our firm and our clients.”

Ostrow is among 40 attorneys nationwide chosen for ABI’s 2020 class of honorees. The ABI Steering Committee, which was composed of experienced insolvency professionals from the organization’s leadership, established the criteria for selection and chose this year’s class of honorees. The committee looked at Ostrow’s accomplishments in the insolvency profession, professional references, leadership capabilities, and volunteer activities. Winners will be honored at a virtual 40 Under 40 celebration in February 2021.

“We are proud of Ellen and her work for our clients,” said Oren Haker, partner and bankruptcy practice lead for the firm. “This recognition demonstrates how integral Ellen is to the firm’s buildout of its insolvency and restructuring practice firmwide. Ellen’s approach to client service and the perspective she brings to our clients’ matters is particularly critical at this time, and we expect her practice to grow significantly in the coming years.”

“Accomplished in both their careers and communities, the 2020 class of honorees is an inspiration for the future of the insolvency community,” ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss said in a press release announcing the class. “We look forward to collaborating with this diverse collection of young leaders in the full range of ABI’s activities to advance the profession.”

In her bankruptcy practice, Ostrow represents major stakeholders, including secured and unsecured creditors, asset purchasers, debtors, committees, trustees, and receivers, in bankruptcy cases and creditors’ rights litigation. She has represented multiple unsecured creditors’ committees in the bankruptcies of manufacturers, event operators, and health food suppliers; Chapter 11 debtors in bankruptcies in the entertainment, mining, and housing industries; and various creditors, including major power purchase agreement creditors in energy industry bankruptcies and suppliers in large retail bankruptcies.
