SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that Of Counsel attorney Willa Perlmutter has received the California Construction and Industrial Materials Association (CalCIMA) 2018 “Associate Member of the Year” award. Partner Michael Mills accepted the award on Perlmutter’s behalf on Nov. 13 at a banquet during CalCIMA’s 2018 Annual Education Conference.
“It is an understatement to say that this is a coveted honor for all companies, not just law firms, that serve the mining industry in California. As a valued member of the association’s Safety Committee, Willa has made our firm proud and is very deserving of this accolade,” said Mills.
Sacramento-based CalCIMA is a trade association for the construction and industrial material industries in California. Its approximately 70 producer member companies, which include aggregate, industrial mineral, and ready-mixed concrete producers, manage more than 250 production sites in the state. CalCIMA provides information on aggregates, industrial minerals, and ready-mixed concrete to the public, government, teachers and students, business, the media and other interested parties. It also addresses legislative and regulatory issues affecting the industry and provides its members with safety, technical and compliance training.
Perlmutter, who works in Stoel Rives’ Portland, Oregon, office, brings more than 30 years of experience to her litigation practice. For the last 20 years, she has focused on defending mine operators across all sectors of the industry in administrative enforcement proceedings brought by the Mine Safety and Health Administration for alleged violations of the Mine Act. In addition, she regularly counsels clients on a broad range of issues that affect their mining operations, from personnel policies and actions to compliance with a broad range of federal statutes. Perlmutter has successfully defended a number of mining companies in whistleblower cases brought under the Mine Act.
