PORTLAND, Ore. — Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that partner Wally Van Valkenburg has been elected chairman of the board of Greater Portland Inc (GPI). Stoel Rives is a founding member of GPI, and Van Valkenburg has served on GPI’s board since 2007.
GPI is a public-private partnership consisting of more than 70 members who are committed to advancing regional economic development through job growth and investment. The organization focuses on business recruitment, retention and expansion across Greater Portland, a region that spans two states and seven counties.

Van Valkenburg, who served as managing partner of Stoel Rives’ Portland office from 2006 to 2016, represents and counsels businesses across a wide range of industries. He is a member of the firm’s technology and intellectual property, antitrust compliance, and economic development practice groups. From 2003 to 2013, he also chaired the Oregon Business Development Commission.
