Amy Edwards Honored with Judge Learned Hand Community Achievement Award

Portland, OR — The U.S. law firm of Stoel Rives LLP is pleased to announce that Portland office partner Amy Edwards has been honored by the Oregon Area Jewish Committee (OAJC) with the 2014 Judge Learned Hand Community Achievement Award.  Recipients are selected based on their demonstration of professional excellence and contribution to the legal community. The award will be presented during a luncheon at the Benson Hotel on October 29, 2014.  

OAJC is dedicated to the advancement of social justice, human rights, religious liberty, support for Israel, mutual understanding and democratic principles. The group’s focus in 2014 has been on three key issues: anti-Semitism and Israel advocacy, marriage equality and food insecurity in Oregon.

The OAJC Judge Learned Hand Awards honor the memory of Judge Learned Hand, a renowned mid-Twentieth century U.S. jurist, whose more than 2,000 decisions included many famous opinions centered on constitutional rights and anti-trust doctrine. Award recipients are chosen for their embodiment of what Judge Hand represented: the rights of the individual and the importance of democratic values in an orderly society.

Honoree Amy Edwards is a Stoel Rives litigator with a practice focused on complex commercial, trust and estate, real property, and healthcare  litigation. Edwards has particular experience in litigation and legal issues involving fiduciaries, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations and has represented individuals, professional fiduciaries, business and nonprofit clients as plaintiffs or defendants in state and federal court, on appeal, and in arbitration and mediation. She is currently listed in Best Lawyers in America® for Commercial Litigation.
