Please join Washington, D.C. Stoel Rives tax partner Greg Jenner for a lively discussion about the outlook for fundamental tax reform under the Trump Administration. Greg will share his insights and experience having been on the “inside” during the last reform effort. He began his time in Washington as Tax Counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, where he was one of the authors of the Tax Reform Act of 1986. Greg later served twice at the Treasury Department, first as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy) and later as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy and Acting Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy.

Topics Greg will cover include:

  • Lessons from the Tax Reform Act of 1986
  • What are the tax reform plans being considered (House Republican “Blueprint,” President’s campaign plan, Senate Finance)? Which is most viable? Pros and cons?
  • Current status of the federal budget; how tax reform might affect it and how it might affect tax reform
  • How the fate of health care legislation could affect tax reform
  • The politics and procedures of tax reform
  • What tax reform might mean for the economy
  • Timing and odds of passage
