Boise Office Managing Partner Kris Ormseth and associate Elijah Watkins recently wrote about the benefits and responsibilities of B corporations in the Idaho Business Review.
Ormseth and Watkins note that corporations, which typically focus on maximizing shareholder profits, have more latitude to take actions for the greater good of society, while still doing right by their investors, if they are set up as a "B" Corporation. They explain how B Corporations' governing documents specifically authorize the board of directors to consider the interests of a wide variety of stakeholders, such as employees, suppliers, customers, and the community in general.
