Dustin Swanson’s practice focuses primarily on federal income tax law, including both transactional matters and tax controversy matters.
His transactional practice comprises a wide variety of issues, including taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions; transactions involving partnerships, S corporations, LLCs and other pass-through entities; stock options, restricted stock and other equity compensation; and the development, acquisition, financing and sale of tax credit projects.
As part of his tax controversy practice, Dustin regularly represents taxpayers in IRS audits and administrative appeals and deficiency litigation in the U.S. Tax Court. He also frequently advises tax-exempt organizations on their unique tax compliance and planning issues and assists them in obtaining property tax exemptions. As part of his practice, Dustin regularly works with clients to identify and answer state and local tax questions.
Because Dustin has a broad-based regional practice, he is looking at new issues all the time and remains up-to-date on tax issues affecting clients. Dustin enjoys working through complex issues and evolving areas of the law to help clients maximize their businesses.
