Experience

Multi-Family, Condominium and Residential Projects

  • Represented a developer in a transaction involving the $117 million acquisition of a 285-unit 239,000 square-foot multifamily apartment project located in Scottsdale, Arizona, acquisition financing and a reverse 1031 exchange.
  • Represented King County Metro in negotiating a complex development agreement, long-term ground lease, and ancillary easements and agreements for a transit-oriented development project that will include 232 affordable housing units on King County Metro-owned property in the Northgate neighborhood in Seattle.
  • Represented developer of a mixed-use condominium and townhome development on Bainbridge Island, Washington.
  • Represented a Seattle developer in the $16 million aggregation and acquisition of adjacent parcels near Minneapolis, Minnesota, for a mixed-use apartment and office building.
  • Represented a regional developer in connection with a binding site plan for a 1.2 million-square-foot, mixed-use shopping and multifamily property in Snohomish County.
  • Represented a private investor in connection with the acquisition, development, financing and sale of a 400-unit apartment project in Auburn, Washington.
  • Ongoing representation of national, publicly traded multifamily residential project developer on a regional basis in connection with the acquisition, development, financing and sale of multifamily residential and mixed-use projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Office, Hotel and Mixed-Use Projects

  • Represented developer in the development and sale of a $1.1 billion public-company headquarters in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood.
  • Represented developer of a 1.7 million square foot mixed-use office, hotel, retail and residential tower in downtown Seattle.
  • Represented developer of a 36-acre, transit-oriented development on former industrial space in Bellevue, Washington.
  • Represented developer in connection with acquisition and redevelopment of a historic building in Portland’s Pearl District. Work included negotiation of a purchase and sale agreement and negotiation of a joint venture agreement with an East Coast private equity firm.
  • Represented a national developer in connection with a mixed-use, multiphase redevelopment project in Kirkland, Washington.
  • Ongoing representation of a large privately-owned hotel developer in connection with a complex land assemblage and redevelopment of a partially owned and partially ground-leased site in Seattle.

Industrial and Natural Energy Projects

  • Represented developer of proposed liquefied natural gas facility in southern Oregon in connection with site acquisition and project development.
  • Represented developer in connection with acquisition of 37 acres of land for development of an approximately 730,000-square-foot industrial/warehouse facility, including negotiation of purchase and sale agreement with public entity and negotiation of a joint venture agreement with a life insurance company.
  • Represented developer in connection with land acquisition, negotiation of a build-to-suit lease for a new fulfillment center, and pre-sale of the lease to provide construction financing.
  • Represented developer of large ethanol production facility in real estate aspects of development project including negotiation of numerous public/private partnership agreements related to site infrastructure development. Assisted in negotiation of project finance package.
