About Amy

Amy Edwards is a trial attorney providing strategic and practical advice to clients in complex civil and business disputes. Amy has tried cases before courts, juries and private arbitrators and has represented clients as plaintiffs or defendants in state and federal court, on appeal and in arbitration and mediation. She has experience representing businesses, tax-exempt organizations, fiduciaries and individuals in real estate, health care, trust and estate, and consumer finance-related litigation.

Amy was formerly a law clerk for The Honorable Bobbe J. Bridge, Washington Supreme Court (2001–2002); a participant in the Federal Appellate Advocacy Program, University of Washington School of Law (2001); a summer associate at Stoel Rives (2000); a legal intern in the Office of Washington Governor Gary Locke (1999); and a fund-raiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (1995–1998).

Complex Litigation

  • Lead trial lawyer in successful federal jury trial involving claims for fraud and violations of the Oregon Unlawful Trade Practices Act in which plaintiff sought over $5 million in economic, non-economic, and punitive damages related to the servicing of her loan. Jury returned a complete defense verdict.
  • Lead trial lawyer for a successful arbitration involving lease renewal rates for unique real property interests. Arbitrator issued a decision in client’s favor and awarded attorney fees of over $250,000.
  • Lead trial lawyer in $20 million dispute related to adjacent agricultural property and involving breach of contract, foreclosure, and regulatory claims in multiple lawsuits. Successfully negotiated settlement of all claims.
  • Represented foreign auto manufacturer and American subsidiary in $2.5 million product liability action related to active head restraints. Successfully negotiated settlement of all claims.
  • Lead trial lawyer in a successful arbitration involving the fair market rental value of on-airport property. Arbitrator issued a decision in client’s favor and awarded attorney fees of over $200,000.
  • Lead trial lawyer in contentious one-week bench trial involving challenges to state agency’s order in other than contested case, which required clients to pay an additional $4 million.
  • Negotiation of successful settlement for educational institution in contested estate proceeding in which client received a $3.6 million distribution even though it was second in line for funds from the estate.
  • Negotiation of successful settlement for Oregon coordinated care organization in $4 million dispute with provider before the American Health Lawyers Association’s arbitration program.
  • Member of trial team that successfully defended a private company in a seven-day arbitration in which the opposing party claimed $20 million in damages as a result of its purchase of the company’s subsidiary.
  • Second chaired trial in successful contested guardianship proceeding involving high-profile Portland family.
  • Second chaired successful defense of TriMet in a $50 million dispute regarding disposition of real property.
  • Representation of health care providers in contract disputes and patient coverage issues.
  • Representation of title insurers, mortgage holders, and individuals in title and property boundary disputes.
