First-Year Law Students

At Stoel Rives we hire the best and the brightest.

Our Summer Associate Program is an integral part of our First-Year Associate hiring process. Our goal is to find highly motivated individuals with excellent academics who share in our commitment to our communities and who are committed to practicing in the regions where we have offices.

Our clients look to us for results, so our lawyers are regularly challenged to be trusted advisors and experts in their practices. We embrace lawyers with different backgrounds, talents, interests, and personalities. We particularly value work experience prior to attending law school.

Successful summer associates possess many of these traits:

  • Sound judgment
  • Integrity
  • Drive and initiative
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to self-motivate
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic

Do you possess these attributes? Are you ready to find a place to put your talents to the test and to start your career? If so, we’re interested in speaking with you! Please find information below about our current openings.

1L Diversity Fellowships
We are proud to offer annual 1L Diversity Fellowships to first-year law students in many of our offices. This year, we are offering the Fellowship in our Portland, Salt Lake City and Seattle offices. Our Sacramento office participates annually in their 1L Diversity Fellowship Program. Please visit the Sacramento County Bar Association’s website for more information. The application period for our 2019 1L Diversity Fellowship applications is now closed. Thank you for your interest.
