PORTLAND- The Portland office of Stoel Rives LLP, a full-service U.S. business law firm, continues to grow as it welcomes Aaron Courtney to its Resources, Development and Environment (RDE) practice group. Aaron focuses on compliance, permitting and litigation issues under the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Clean Water Act, and federal and state environmental clean-up laws.
In explaining why he came to Stoel Rives, Aaron said, "I was excited by the prospect of joining what is already one of the largest and most experienced group of environmental and natural resource law attorneys in the region. The depth and breadth of the firm's resources will enable me to better serve my existing clients."
Aaron was formerly with Perkins Coie LLP; Miller, Nash, Wiener, Hager & Carlsen; and Heller, Ehrman, White & McAuliffe. From 2000 to 2003, he was a full-time faculty member at Lewis & Clark law school, where he continues to teach as an adjunct professor.
Currently, more than 80 attorneys comprise the RDE practice group, which is led by Joan P. Snyder. Snyder said, "Aaron has extensive experience in environmental and natural resources law. We look forward to making that experience available to our clients."
In addition to earning his J.D. from the University of Virginia law school, Aaron has a B.A. in environmental sciences and biology and an M.S. in ecology, also from that university. He is licensed to practice in Oregon, as well as before the U.S. District Court of Oregon and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
