W. Adam Coady

Overview

Adam Coady is a Seattle-based partner in Stoel Rives’ Real Estate group and the chair of Stoel Rives’ Real Estate Industry Group.

Adam represents property owners, developers, lenders, health care providers, investors, and tenants, providing experienced, practical legal counsel on a wide variety of real estate transactions. Adam has significant experience handling acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and leasing matters.

Adam’s practice is focused on health care, office, multifamily, and retail. He also has experience working in-house with a large health care client where he managed the legal matters relating to its real estate portfolio.

Before joining Stoel Rives, Adam was an associate (2011–2018) and summer associate (2010) with Foster Pepper PLLC. While attending law school, he was an international law legal intern for Professor David Stewart (2009–2011) and worked in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, as a legal intern at the Documentation Center of Cambodia (summer 2009). Before law school, Adam was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal, West Africa (2005–2007).

  • Representation of a large nonprofit hospital system in connection with the sale of a ground lease interest in a multitenant medical office building in Oregon and the related restructuring of the underlying ground lease.
  • Representation of a private real estate investment company in the $77 million acquisition of a large shopping center in south Puget Sound.
  • Representation of a private developer in the acquisition of more than 270,000 square feet of land in Bellevue, WA, for more than $110 million.
  • Representation of a Seattle-based private real estate developer in the $41 million acquisition of a hotel in Los Angeles, CA.
  • Representation of a Seattle developer in the $67 million acquisition of a 400-unit apartment building in Salt Lake City, UT.
  • Representation of a real estate investment firm in the sale of a 38-property portfolio of medical facilities in 25 states to multiple investment funds.
  • Representation of a Seattle developer in the $16 million aggregation and acquisition of adjacent parcels near Minneapolis, MN, for a mixed-use apartment and office building.
  • Representation of a developer in connection with a $105 million construction loan for a multifamily development in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood.
  • Representation of hotel developer in connection with a $20 million construction loan for a project in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA.
  • Representation of an Oregon developer of assisted living facilities in securing more than $36 million in financing for the development of five projects in Washington and Oregon.
  • Representation of a regional developer in connection with a binding site plan for a 1.2 million-square-foot, mixed-use shopping and multifamily property in Snohomish County.
