Client Northstar Agri Industries celebrated a grand opening event on August 8th, 2012 for its new canola crushing and refining plant located in Kittson County, Minnesota. First operational in May 2012, the new plant has the capacity to process 1000 tons of canola seed per day, producing food grade canola oil and canola meal. U.S. Congressman Collin Peterson, Minnesota State Senator LeRoy Stumpf, Minnesota State Representative Dan Fabian and Kittson County Commission Chair Joe Bouvette were on hand to celebrate the plant's opening.

"Having the plant ready to begin crushing is such a huge accomplishment for everyone who has been involved," said Neil Juhnke, Northstar President and COO. "I'm so incredibly proud of the work that's been done to bring this plant to Kittson County."

Stoel Rives assisted Northstar in a variety of project-related matters, including balance of plant agreements, grain contracts, property and sales tax issues, labor and employment, food regulatory compliance and trademark issues. David Quinby led the Stoel Rives client team with substantial assistance from Sarah Johnson Phillips, Anne Glazer and Jodi Johnson.
