Stoel Rives Sponsors GreenTech Conference in Seattle

Press Release

SEATTLE — Stoel Rives LLP was pleased to serve as a sponsor of the inaugural Green Tech Conference in Seattle, a first-of-its-kind conference organized by the Northwest Environmental Business Council to address the future of environmental protection.

Held Oct. 1 to 3 in downtown Seattle, the conference gathered leaders from some of the world’s most innovative companies together with policymakers, lawmakers, technologists, and nongovernmental organizations to explore environmental protection in an era of transformative technological change.

“Technology promises to both radically transform the activities traditionally subject to environmental regulation and to dramatically expand our understanding of environmental conditions and their sources,” said Geoffrey Tichenor, environmental lawyer and Stoel Rives partner who, along with partner Rachel Cox, attended GreenTech. “The GreenTech conference examines the intersection of law and technology through this dual lens, examining innovative technologies such as drones, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology and the unique opportunities and challenges they present for protecting the environment.”

Based in Seattle, the Northwest Environmental Business Council represents Pacific Northwest businesses working to protect, restore and sustain the natural and built environment. It organized the GreenTech Conference to explore how the use of technology can help businesses adjust how they produce goods and services to reduce waste and pollution.

With more than 60 attorneys, paralegals and compliance analysts comprising its firm-wide practice group, Stoel Rives ranks among the top 10 largest environmental law practices in the United States. The firm’s sophisticated compliance counseling, permitting, regulatory development and litigation practices continue a long tradition of specialization and deep experience. Its environmental and natural resource lawyers incorporate prior agency experience, technical acumen and industry knowledge into their legal advice while also building and maintaining strong relationships with agency officials and industry associations.
