Labor and employment attorney Karin Jones was quoted by KING 5 in Seattle in a segment titled “Some employers still offering paid leave during the pandemic,” published February 5, 2021. The piece discusses the status of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) requirement that employers give 14 days off to workers who need to quarantine or up to 12 weeks off for those who need to take care of themselves or their families.

Though the program expired at the end of 2020, some businesses are extending the leave on their own and claiming a payroll tax credit. “There’s still an incentive for employers to provide that [FFCRA leave],” Jones said. “Hopefully employers are communicating that to employees if they’re still providing it, but if there’s any doubt, go talk to human resources.”
